That Flat Box Doesn't Build Itself

Professional Assembly for Every Brand and Room

There's a particular kind of dread that sets in when you open a flat-pack box and see forty pages of pictogram instructions and a bag of seventy-two tiny fasteners. You budgeted a Saturday for assembly. By Sunday evening, the dresser drawers are backwards and there's a mysterious extra screw that definitely should have gone somewhere. We've all been there.

Craft & Hands handles furniture assembly so you skip the frustration entirely. We build IKEA, Wayfair, West Elm, Article, Amazon, Target, and any other flat-pack or ready-to-assemble furniture brand. Beds, dressers, nightstands, desks, bookshelves, wardrobes, TV consoles, dining tables, patio furniture — if it comes in a box with hardware, we build it.

What We Assemble

  • Bedroom furniture — Platform beds, storage beds, bunk beds, headboards, nightstands, dressers, armoires, wardrobes. We square the frames, tighten every fastener, and make sure drawers glide.
  • Living room furniture — TV consoles, media units, coffee tables, side tables, bookshelves, shelving systems. Heavy pieces anchored to the wall for safety where needed.
  • Office furniture — Desks, standing desks, desk converters, office chairs, filing cabinets, monitor stands. Cable management trays included if you have them.
  • Dining & kitchen furniture — Dining tables and chairs, bar stools, kitchen islands, pantry shelving. Leveled on your floor, not wobbling.
  • Outdoor & patio furniture — Sectional sets, dining sets, lounge chairs, storage benches, umbrellas and bases. Assembled where you want them — patio, balcony, or rooftop.
  • Kids' furniture — Cribs, changing tables, toy storage, play kitchens, loft beds. We're especially careful with safety-critical assembly.

Beyond IKEA

We love IKEA — it's well-engineered and we know the product lines inside out. But we also assemble furniture from every other retailer. Wayfair pieces often have different hardware standards. West Elm furniture can be heavier and require more careful handling. Amazon brands vary in quality and instruction clarity. We adapt our approach to each piece, building it right regardless of the brand.

The Assembly Process

  1. Text photos of the boxes — Snap the box labels so we can see the model name and dimensions. Include the room where it's going. Send to +1 (323) 212-0457.
  2. We quote a flat price — A single dresser or desk typically fits the $179 Service Call. A bed plus nightstands or multiple pieces moves to the $369 Home Fix. Furnishing a whole apartment from scratch usually falls under the $899 Multi-Task Visit. You'll know before we arrive.
  3. We build on-site — In the room where the furniture lives. Organized, tooled up, systematic. No parts lost, no steps skipped.
  4. We clean up completely — Every piece of cardboard broken down, every scrap of plastic gathered, hardware bags accounted for. We haul the packaging away.

Why Professional Assembly Makes Sense

Building furniture isn't just about following instructions. It's about torque — not over-tightening cam locks so they snap, not under-tightening so joints loosen over time. It's about squaring — a dresser that's assembled slightly out of square will always have sticky drawers. It's about floor leveling — a dining table that wobbles on an uneven floor needs adjusting at the legs, not folded paper shims. These details are invisible until they're wrong, and then they're all you notice.

For renters moving into a new apartment, building furniture is the worst part of move-in day. Let us handle the assembly while you unpack. For homeowners furnishing a nursery or home office, getting it done right the first time means years of trouble-free use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which furniture brands do you assemble?

We assemble furniture from IKEA, Wayfair, West Elm, Article, Amazon, Target, CB2, Crate & Barrel, and virtually any flat-pack or ready-to-assemble brand. If it comes in a box with hardware and instructions, we build it.

Do you haul away the packaging?

Yes. We break down all cardboard, gather plastic wrapping and foam, and remove every piece of packaging from your home. We leave the room furniture-ready — no cleanup for you to handle afterward.

How long does furniture assembly take?

A typical dresser or desk takes 45-90 minutes. A bed frame takes 30-60 minutes. A large wardrobe or multiple pieces in one visit may take several hours. Our flat-rate pricing means you're not watching the clock — the price is the same whether it takes one hour or three.

What if parts are missing or damaged?

We check all parts before starting. If something is missing or damaged, we'll let you know immediately. We can often work around minor issues, or we'll pause and advise you to contact the retailer for replacement parts. We don't charge for the visit if we can't complete the job due to manufacturer defects.

Can you assemble furniture in an apartment or condo?

Yes — apartments and condos are the majority of our assembly jobs. We work quietly, respect building rules, and keep hallways and elevators clear. We bring drop cloths to protect floors and work systematically in whatever space is available.

Do you anchor furniture to the wall?

We strongly recommend anchoring tall furniture — dressers, bookcases, wardrobes — to the wall for tip-over safety, especially in homes with children. We include wall anchoring at no extra charge when it's appropriate for the piece and wall type.
